How intelligent is your CCTV?
A traditional video security system works by passive monitoring, which means it is referred to after incidents happen or put another way, the police can use the footage once you have already been the victim of a crime.
Why? Usually there is little or no intelligence with CCTV systems to detect a real and current intrusion event, and so many alerts are wrongly triggered or reported and get mixed up with genuine events. This is a reality that makes it tougher for security personnel to focus and act.
A smarter security system that precisely identifies trespassing events and deters the intruders at the very beginning, can transform passive monitoring to proactive security which can reduce the chance of a crime being committed early on. What does smarter look like?
Businesses, property, or land are equipped with cameras featuring AcuSense technology which means they can detect human and/or vehicle intrusions day and night. If an intruder enters an area covered by CCTV, an alarm will be triggered and simultaneously the onsite camera produces a flashing light and an auditory warning – which can be pre-recorded – with the aim of deterring the intruder.
At the same time, security personnel are notified on the monitor with a video clip displaying what is happening. The overall benefit being that action can be taken straight away and not hours after the event has taken place and business owners can protect their assets with more confidence and assurance than ever before.
THE BIG LANDLINE AND PSTN SWITCH-OFF
We’re all familiar with the copper wire telephone network: in use since 1876, it’s kept business communications’ going for years. But…. that’s all about to change.
In 2025, Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) is being switched off by BT Openreach which means everyone, including every business, currently using any PSTN-based services will need to move to another more modern service before then.
